“I am inspired by evocative forms, the unspoken, withheld energy, the contrast of empty spaces and the silence between the two – in other words, suspension. For these reasons I like to work with hard metals like shibuichi and iron. They possess both an internal tension and surprising lightness. In addition, I am constantly delighted by the preciousness of antique gold and its ability to bring to life certain hues of red”.
