A Dark Spark of Light is an exhibition presented by Juan Riusech & Thereza Pedrosa, founders of the Alliages organisation and of the divulgation website Beautiful People Live Art, respectively. United in the common aim of promoting the culture of contemporary jewellery at the international level, the curators invited the artists to face the theme of opposites that are attracted and are indissolubly interconnected.
There is no light without shadow, no good without evil, no happiness without torment.
This theme – dramatically current in its personal, social and historical implications – required an attentive and intimate elaboration from the artists. The resulting creations are rich of pathos: Maria Rosa Franzin’s brooch testifies of a spark of hope in the dark; Clara Del Papa’s jewel symbolizes a painful path to a rebirth; Izabella Petrut’s ring represents a material conflict. Each and every artist offered an extremely personal interpretation on this conflictual theme.
The works selected for the exhibition invite to reflect on the beauty of life, in all the contradictory and opposing forms in which it manifests itself.
A Dark Spark of Light is on display simultaneously at the Alliages gallery in Lille, France, and online for the related voting contest on Beautiful People Live Art from December 12 to January 30, 2016.
Visit the gallery and vote for your favorite artist by entering her/his name in the comment box at the end of the article. The winning artist will be featured in a solo virtual exhibition of Beautiful People Live Art!
